REFLECTION OF SECOND YEAR B.ED STUDENTS ON FIRST PHASE OF INTERNSHIP

The Reflection Session of the Second Year B.Ed. students on the First Phase of Internship provided a meaningful platform for student teachers to revisit and share their experiences from their first phase of teaching practice. With great enthusiasm, the students shared their memorable experiences, the support and encouragement they received from their respective schools, their interactions with children, and the challenges they encountered during the internship.

The reflections brought out the realities of classroom life, including the challenge of bridging the generation gap while connecting with Gen Z learners, understanding diverse student needs, managing classrooms, and adapting teaching strategies to different learning environments. Students also spoke about the warmth and cooperation they received from school authorities, teachers, and learners, which made their internship experience more enriching. Their reflections clearly demonstrated how they evolved during the first phase—gaining confidence, patience, adaptability, classroom management skills, and a deeper understanding of the teaching profession.

The session was coordinated under the guidance of Academic Coordinator Dr. Styne Joseph, with the support of Student Coordinator Sreelakshmi P. S. (Hindi), and was held in the presence of Dr. R. Lakshmi, Principal-in-Charge. Dr. Ushadevi, Shri. Unnikuttan P., and Dr. Geethakumari also shared their experiences and offered valuable guidance and encouragement to the student teachers.

Student representatives from various schools enthusiastically shared their reflections: Sherin (Model Boys), Merly Jose (Model Girls), Sheeja (Mar Thoma), Anusreya and Suja (Vivekodayam Girls), Revathi and Ayisha (Sacred Heart), Nandana and Greeshma (CMS), Haritha (Vivekodayam Boys), Niranjana (St. Thomas), and Nijesh (Technical School).

The session served as a valuable opportunity for the student teachers to celebrate their experiences, acknowledge the support they received, reflect on the challenges they overcame, and recognise their own growth during the first phase of internship. It marked an important step in their journey towards becoming confident, reflective, and empathetic educators.
